Oldřich Hájek, Pavel Grebeníček, Veronika Hubáčková

The Decade of Experience with Strategic Planning of Czech Republic’s Regions, by Oldřich Hájek, Pavel Grebeníček and Veronika Hubáčková

The approach of regional authorities to strategic planning is very differentiated today. As evidence to this, there are different hierarchies in the strategic documents of regional development within the Czech Republic, as well as in their structures, methodology, terminology and a number of other aspects. Based on a set of selected evaluation criteria to study the current trends in strategic planning, this contribution compares various strategic development documents of Czech regions.

  • CESTY DĚDICTVÍ
    Marie Tomíšková

Paths of the Heritage, by Marie Tomíšková

The paths of the heritage are thematic routes connecting some attractive historic locations, grouped into thematically homogeneous but combinable units. The notion of the route can be explained either in the sense of a line of specific communication, connecting places worth visiting, or a set of locations of alike type of attractivity, offered to visitors, of which any part can be chosen. In each of such routes there are well-known locations, traditionally and permanently promoted, to which interesting and valuable but rather marginalized objects or premises are linked. Thematic routes offer thus the recognition of some less familiar places, yet documenting the history of the country and offering unusual and interesting experience.

    Dana Novotná

Metamorphoses of the Use of Greenery in Historic Towns’ Urban Interiors, by Dana Novotná

The article outlines the history of the use of greenery in towns, from the Middle Ages to these days. Private greenery was usually presented as ornamental, herbal and agricultural gardens, as well as vineyards and, later, hop gardens. Orchards and larger gardens were only found behind the town walls. The founding of town parks and groves is connected with vast demolitions of fortifications and parts of suburban areas. Solitary amenity trees were being added artificially in the last decades, in most cases rather insensitively to the environment they were supposed to decorate.

  • PRŮMYSLOVÉ DĚDICTVÍ KUŘIMI: JAK STRUKTURU PŮVODNĚ MALÉHO ZEMĚDĚLSKÉHO MĚSTEČKA OVLIVNILA ZBROJOVKA A PROČ SE JEJÍ GENEREL NEDOSTAL DO DĚJIN PRŮMYSLOVÉ ARCHITEKTURY
    Dana Novotná

Industrial Heritage of the Town of Kuřim: How the structure of a small agricultural town was influenced by the enterprise of Zbrojovka, and why its general plan failed to enter the history of industrial architecture, by Dana Novotná

Just before the outbreak of World War II, the enterprise of Zbrojovka Brno placed the order for the design of their new production plant to the Klaudy-Lippert office of Vienna. During the war, the building was extended by another factory, Klöckner Flugmotorenbau, moved from Hamburg. One part of the investment was the construction of dwellings for both the permanent employees and the forces engaged through the Totaleinsatz labour deployment. The general plan of the production premises is one of the best in our territory, complying with the conditions of war and the following development too, corresponding to the requirements of the modern era. Also interesting is the approach to the architectonic and urban planning scheme of the attached residential areas dating back to 1941 to 1950.
