A study on the revitalization of the former Riding Barracks in Prostějov, by Vojtěch Jeřábek, Jiří Zakopal
Which options for a new use of the grounds of the former Riding Barracks in Prostějov are ideal? An answer to this question is sought by a study that originated as a thesis project by Jiří Zakopal at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University. The former military area, abandoned by the army and administered by the municipality, has been waiting for reasonable utilization since 2004. Our article attempts to describe this situation as a model of its kind, as many municipal administrations in the Czech Republic are challenged by the historic heritage of vast zones taken over from the army. The article tries to identify possible common features as well as describe local specifics that have informed the Prostějov study.

Comments on Spatial Planning is a tool based on a web application supporting the publication of drafts of spatial plans and the collection and assessment of comments. It is a modern tool used in the process of elaboration of spatial planning documentation which makes the documentation accessible to anybody, anywhere. There are several objectives for the implementation of this tool, such as making the work of contractors more effective, making the work of those who elaborate spatial plans easier, electronic filing of comments and objections in a comprehensive geo-database, education of the public in terms of spatial planning, transparency in debates on spatial plans and computerization in public administration.
